Challenge

Life before Beam was chaotic. We managed payments through a mix of checks, Venmo, and Zelle, which made reconciling our books a constant headache. Projects were run on pen and paper, and change orders often got lost in text threads. We tried using another construction management software, but it felt overly complex for our needs and we struggled to use it effectively.

Solution

Beam has brought structure and consistency to areas of our business that used to be scattered. We’ve gone from managing projects with pen and paper to having a centralized platform where financials, change orders, and schedules all live in one place. It’s made us more efficient, more accountable, and a lot more confident in the numbers. Now that we’ve set up accounting codes and internal systems, our books practically keep themselves.

The ability to track both what we owe subcontractors and what clients owe us in real time has been huge. We no longer have to piece things together from different apps or guess where we stand on a job. Beam has helped us tighten up processes, eliminate miscommunication, and operate more like a company that’s scaling, not just getting by.

What really sealed it for us was the support team. They’re incredibly responsive and have gone above and beyond, even connecting us with helpful tools like CompanyCam. And while pricing wasn’t our top priority, Beam is much more cost-effective than other platforms we looked at and absolutely worth the investment.

Beam has made a huge difference in our day-to-day work. It’s freed up time, reduced errors, and helped us focus more on execution rather than administration. We’re getting estimates out roughly 3x faster and starting jobs an average of 2 weeks sooner than we used to. By cleaning up our backend processes, we can track leads more clearly and move from inquiry to estimate to contract much more efficiently.

Now, ~95% of change orders are approved or denied almost immediately, whereas before, it was often ambiguous, and in many cases, we didn’t even have formal written/signed change orders. Beam has brought structure and clarity to what used to be a pretty loose process.
